View articlesEverton's pre-season tour has already taken in the beauty of the Austrian Alps and the historical significance of Washington DC and Philadelphia on the East coast of the USA – now we're in Bremen in Germany’s industrial North West..
To the right of our hotel is the more historical part of the city with the old cathedral and the town hall overlooking the Marketplatz.
In the opposite direction tends to be where the action is - the banks of the River Weser are lined with a number of Biergartens which, on Monday evening, played host to the Blues media department, along with more than a few fans.
We've got Snods with us for evertontv commentary of the game against Bremen and he'd barely had a sip of his Becks (which is brewed in Bremen), before he was up posing for pictures with the supporters who have made the trip across to Germany.
Talking of autograph hunters, as we had disembarked our plane the previous evening we were met by some very enthusiastic Germans, who were particularly keen to meet a Neville brother.
Unfortunately for Phil, it was his sibling Gary, and the Blues skipper had to laugh off a case of mistaken identity.
After dinner Tim Howard and Johnny Heitinga volunteered to record some messages for us – each shrugging off some concerted abuse from messrs Cahill, Jagielka and Beckford to deliver their lines like seasoned actors.
Johnny had to record his message in Dutch and he slipped seamlessly between the two languages before declaring that if we needed him to he could do the same again in Spanish!
There is, of course, a game tonight and it is worth noting that this week the Blues are really increasing the intensity of their pre-season plans. Werder
Bremen and Villareal are two proper teams who will provide a stern test on the eve of the new season.
Both should be superb games of football with world-class players on show.
