As Everton face West Brom at Goodison I have to be at Twickenham to watch England take on South Africa. I have a client function, so sadly I have to resort to following the Blues via TV screens at Twickenham and also on my phone.
This is a day on which both Everton and England must stand up and be counted....
We’ve just had a weekend off and we can feel pretty good about our season so far. We are top of the league and it is uncharted territory for us because I don't think we've been in this position before – maybe for a week or so last year, but we're five points clear of the second place team.
For me, the Sunderland game perfectly summed up our season so far. We were good in patches, played some lovely football, scored a good goal, gave away a poor one and didn't finish off some of our excellent approach play.
It was interesting to see Leighton Baines speak out after the game saying that we should be shooting more. I'm always...
After a brilliant week which involved an eventful couple of days in Blackpool and Phil Neville becoming the King of Twitter (you know who you are mate!!) it wouldn't be Everton if it carried on going smoothly...
It's been a pretty poor week for the Blues after a very scrappy point against Bolton and the loss to Arsenal, but what do...

I've been to every one, home and away, since April 99. In that time, we've won four of them - is it any wonder I hate...
Prior to our victory over Birmingham I’m sure there weren’t too many Blues fans looking forward to the 214th Merseyside Derby. But that win, followed by Liverpool’s home defeat to Blackpool has put a whole new perspective on matters.
To be honest after that weekend I was wishing the Derby could take place almost immediately. International breaks rarely come at the...
It’s been a very long time since my last blog and my only, slightly lame excuse is the hurly-burly of day-to-day life inside a Premier League football club. I often quote one of our senior managers who joined us two or three years ago from a top position in an international restaurant chain, who said how amazed he was by...
It is 20 years to the day since I was a mascot for Everton, and the start of that season was similar to this one.
We went into the game without a win and any pre-season confidence had taken a bit of a blow.
I won't bore you with the details but, apart from me smashing three past Big Nev...
