This is only the second time in 19 visits to Wembley that the Toffees have faced a London side - the previous encounter was the loss to Crystal Palace in the 1991 Zenith Data Systems final.
This is the latest date on which the FA Cup final has been played, beating by three days the previous record, when Tottenham beat QPR in the final replay of 1982, which was staged on 27th May.
The losing team has failed to score in the last eight finals staged at Wembley, since Sheffield Wednesday against Arsenal in 1993.
