Warrington-born Matthew signed for Everton Football Academy aged 11.
Completing his secondary education at his local school, Matthew’s parents would bring him along to Finch Farm for evening training sessions. Matthew thrived at the Academy; showing increased determination and strength of character year on year, he proved himself to be a bright young footballing prospect.
At 16, Matthew took the next step on his journey at Everton Academy when he began his scholarship. During this time, Matthew complimented his football development with A-Level studies at Carmel College. At the age of 18, having completed his scholarship and gaining a grade A in Chemistry and Mathematics A-level, Matthew was offered a professional contract with Everton Football Club.
Matthew made his debut for Everton’s First Team in 2015 at age of 20.
