Wedding Preparations
As soon as possible
- Provisionally book your civil ceremony and reception venues check availability with registrar
- Decide on your budget and open a wedding account
- Decide on your bridesmaids, best man and other attendants and decide who is doing what
- Begin to draw up your guest list and decide on the number of guests
- Make ceremony and reception bookings
- Book your photographer and videographer - remember good ones always get booked quickly
- Attend local/regional wedding fairs to look for ideas and inspiration
Twelve to six months
- Begin looking for your wedding outfit
- Have a meeting with your registrar to discuss the service. Select hymns, readings and music
- Choose your florist, wedding cake and stationery designers
- Choose wedding rings, accessories, men's outfits and entertainment
- Begin your beauty regime for skin, hair and nails
- Book your first night hotel and honeymoon. Check your passports
- Organise your wedding gift list
- Arrange wedding dress fittings
- Once you have chosen your wedding services book and pay required deposits
Three to two months
- Finalise the order of service with registrar,vceremony venue and stationery designer
- Finalise food and drink requirements with reception venue
- Reconfirm all prior bookings
- Post invitations to final guest list
- Send out gift list details as and when requested and arrange for Thank You cards to be sent as soon as gifts start arriving
- Buy your accessories, lingerie, shoes, headdress and or veil
- The groom should organise fittings with his attendants for their outfits
Two to one months
- Choose gift for attendants
- Book hairdresser and make up appointments
- Confirm number of guests to caterers and confirm number of guests to caterers and seating plan designer
- Ensure everyone knows their roles and that hen and stag nights have been organised
One month to one week
- Confirm all reception requirements, arrange times for cake, balloons, florist, venue decorators to arrive at the reception venue
- Let photographer have a list of photographs you want or people you want to be photographed with
- Have fun on your hen and stag nights with time to recover!
- Start wearing your wedding shoes in the house to break them in
- Ensure speeches are being prepared and practiced
The day before
- Have manicure or any beauty treatments you have booked.
- Delegate
- Ensure Best Man has emergency telephone numbers, wedding rings and has organised to collect and return any hired outfits whilst you're on your honeymoon
- Ensure bridesmaid has emergency telephone numbers, tissues and has organised to collect and store any wedding gifts brought to the reception
- Relax and have an early night - do not get too drunk!
On the day!
- Be calm! Give yourself plenty of time to get ready
- Ensure that the flowers have arrived at the relevant addresses
- Relax and enjoy your day!
