Everton Free School and Football College was delighted to welcome Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System through its doors recently and provide him with an insight into the work of the school.
During his visit, Lord Agnew was given a tour of the Spellow Lane-based facility by Principal Richard Cronin. Lord Agnew had the opportunity to call into some of the classes being delivered and spoke with students to find out more about the positive impact that Everton Free School is having on their education.
The Minister also met with members of Everton Free School’s Leadership team and was given an insight into the innovative and personalised curriculum on offer as well as the programme of extra-curricular support and enrichment activities that provides exciting opportunities for collaborative working.
Speaking after his time at the school, Lord Agnew said: “Everton Free School is a fantastic example of school leaders being empowered to make decisions that are in their pupils’ best interests.
"There are so many talented young people at the school who have been encouraged to discover a new passion. It was a pleasure to see their motivation and infectious enthusiasm for myself.”
Everton Free School Principal Richard Cronin said: “Lord Agnew’s visit allowed us to showcase the work of the school and look at the positive impact that we are able to have on the young people that we serve. His visit also provided a welcome opportunity to discuss the current issues facing the Alternative Provision sector.”
