Everton in the Community Executive Director Phil Duffy recently visited London to represent the Club’s official charity at the annual Ministry of Sport Day Conference.

Hosted by the Bishop of Sherwood, Tony Porter, the conference theme was “Beyond the Fringe” and focused on how the Ministry of Sport can be effective in reaching the marginalised and excluded around the country.

During the day, Phil spoke to the delegates about how EitC works to support vulnerable and under-privileged individuals across Merseyside, before joining a Q&A session followed by various focus groups.

Speaking after the conference, Phil said: “I massively enjoyed the day and it showed me an ‘alternative’ structure to the Church whilst offering delegates an opportunity to consider their work in a wider context.

“I took great pride in telling those in attendance about the work of our charity and the sense of spirituality, moral vision and courage that runs through our work and are at the heart of the Football Club.”
