A quartet of Everton stars were on hand recently to celebrate the launch of a new partnership between Everton in the Community and global technology and transportation company Uber.

The link-up will see Evertonians able to claim a free taxi journey up to the value of £15 when they download the Uber app for the first time, with the private hire giant then donating £5 to the Club’s official charity.

Under-23 pair David Henen and Jonjoe Kenny joined Everton Ladies duo Gabby George and Georgia Brougham at Everton Free School after training to meet Uber General Manager, Neil McGonigle, to find out more about the partnership and how the money will benefit Everton in the Community before challenging each other to a football battle with a difference; who could hit the most footballs into the boot of a parked Uber!

David Henen emerged victorious after beating Georgia Brougham in a sudden-death shoot-out and then posed for photographs with Neil McGonigle and Amanda Chatterton, Everton in the Community Corporate Partnerships and Events Manager. The impromptu football challenge ended with the four Blues players all making sure they had downloaded the Uber app in support of EITC.

“Everton in the Community is thrilled to be forging a partnership with Uber, a forward thinking and innovative organisation just like our charity. It’s great to be able to offer our supporters a free trip to the game as well as benefitting EITC, allowing us to continue our life changing work across Merseyside,” said Amanda Chatterton.

Neil McGonigle, Uber General Manager, said; "We're delighted to be partnering with Everton in the Community. As a local, I have a huge amount of admiration for what the charity has achieved over the years. This partnership gives people the opportunity to experience the safe, convenient and reliable service Uber provides, whilst generating additional funds for Everton in the Community to continue their great work. It really is a win-win for everyone."

You can support Everton in the Community and earn yourself a free taxi journey by simply downloading the Uber app and entering the code ‘EITC15’*.

*Offer only available for first time users of the Uber app and the code can only be used once. Offer runs from 1 September 2016 until 31 August 2017. For further terms and conditions, click here.
