A group of Everton supporters from the Atlanta Evertonians have selected Everton in the Community as their charity, and to show their commitment for both the Club and its charity have been branded with Everton tattoos.
Tattoos for Blues kicks off a series of events during the upcoming season, including a fundraiser and raffle for a trip to Goodison. With almost three quarters of the fundraising target, Everton in the Community is looking to raise further awareness amongst the rest of the faithful, both at home and abroad. The cost of the tattoos will be covered by the members themselves, but supporters can sponsor these loyal Toffees for getting their body adorned with the crest.
Atlanta Evertonians is one of the largest Stateside Everton Supporter’s Clubs and has been in existence since 2013 and have already been very active with local charities in Atlanta Georgia. Activities included a raffle during last season that benefited Camp Dream from Warm Springs Georgia, an all-volunteer organisation that gives children with all types of disabilities an opportunity to attend summer camp where they participate in activities such as swimming, boating and horseback riding.
After collecting over $7,000 for Camp Dream in donations throughout the holiday season, the winning prize on offer was a trip for two to Goodison Park to see Everton play Manchester United and included airfare, five nights at the Liverpool Hilton, including limo service, a stadium tour and Beatles Experience tickets.
The body art was completed on Sunday 26 July, but the now-inked group members will not be revealing them until the opening day of the season, the same date that the charity drive will go on till.
“We wanted to adopt Everton in the Community as our charity of choice for the season,” said Atlanta chairman Steve Landy. “Not only for the great work you do but also as a way of building our own relationship with Everton Football Club.”
“Since our humble beginnings at the start of the 2013/14 season we have grown our member base into one of the most thriving supporters clubs in the US.”
