Gibson helps with Maximuscle’s Protein Project

As part of club sponsor Maximuscle’s 2013 Protein Project campaign, in which three ‘Average Joe’s’ were selected to undertake a 12-week nutrition and fitness challenge, one of the ‘Average Joe’s’ David Reilly was given the chance to train at Finch Farm with Everton first-teamer Darron Gibson.

A month into the life-changing challenge, David has been to McLaren and met Jenson Button, learnt how to play cricket at Lords with England Test cricketer Nick Compton and has now been put through his paces by Republic of Ireland International Darron Gibson. 

David was lucky enough to be able to seek the expert advice of Dave Billows, Everton’s Sport Scientist and as part of the day he was pushed to the limits in the gym whilst having his skills and technique analysed outside on the pitch.

David said: “ I did some circuit training with Darron, he made it look really easy but when it was my turn it I soon realised it wasn’t as easy as it looked. It was great to get an insight into the training regime of a Premier League footballer. Thanks to Everton for a great day.”
