FOOTBALL BANNING ORDER
A football fan has received a landmark banning order after subjecting passengers travelling on the Tube to a tirade of racist abuse.
The order forbids him from using the railway to travel to any town or city where Totenham, Chelsea or the English national team are playing. He also cannot use the Tube for four hours before or after a game involving any of the same teams.
He had been drinking heavily with friends as they travelled on the Tube to go the Chelsea v Newcastle fixture last December.
The banning order is the first of it's kind, with previous orders forbidding people from specified locations and around football grounds.
British Transport Police said, "This robust football banning order is the first of many to come. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated on the railways and if people choose to behave this way they will be proactively dealt with."
