The FA are delighted that former West Brom legend, Brendon
Batson is now working for them in a consultancy capacity, providing
a key link between the "Football For All" division and
coaching within the FA's Football Development Division.
Although Brendon's remit does not focus on the technical
elements of coaching, he will be charged with building greater
confidence with the black and ethnic minority coaching community
and helping to grow the number of coaches from ethnic minorities.
The appointment further highlights The FA's committment to
ensuring equal opportunities for all participants whatever their
ability, age, race, gender, religion or sexuality. In recent years
through the FA's Football For All strategy, progress has been
made in helping to make the game more inclusive, tackling issues
with regards to all types of equality.
Some of his duties will include;
- Acting as an ambassador for the FA's work to increase
ethnic minority involvement in coaching;
- Providing an overview of and co-ordination of the FA's work
in coach education in relation to ethnic minorities;
- Developing an action plan to increase the number of ethnic
minorities at all levels in coaching;
- Ensuring the FA's mentoring scheme is appropriate for
ethnic minorities.
In addition, Brendon will also have the job of helping to support the FA'snew regional Coaches to identify the best black and ethnic minority coaches and ensure they have pathways in place to progress on through the coaching qualifications structure.
