Everton’s amber 2011/12 away kit has received the green-light from the players that will be donning the strip next term.

David Moyes’ senior squad got their first glimpse of the new Le Coq Sportif away kit when they took part in a photo-shoot to showcase the strip.

And the players charged with modelling the amber and blue number were delighted with what they saw.

Indeed, Jack Rodwell believes the return to amber could have a profound impact on the football Everton produce!

“It is nice to see the new kit, it is exciting, and hopefully we will play a bit like Brazil in it,” he told evertontv.

It is the first time for almost a decade that amber has been utilised as the colour for the away shirt. But it was back in the swinging 60s when the amber kit became synonymous with Everton.

And the echoes of that popular strip have not been lost on the Club’s skipper.

Phil Neville explained: “The players are really interested about what kit they are going to be wearing, it is always a big talking point and now it has come back to a retro style. I think the retro style is always the best, simple is always the best and it is a real classic shirt. Everton fans love going to the game in their shirts and I am sure they will enjoy buying this one.”

They are sentiments echoed by England international Leighton Baines: “I think the fans, especially the younger fans, are always excited to get their first glimpses of the kit and the lads aren’t that much different. You always want to get a look at the new kit.”

However, whilst the away kit for the outfield players has clear influences from the past, the 2011/12 away goalkeeping kit is something new and exciting.

Tim Howard explained: “It is very unique, it is something I have never seen before and I have been in the game a while. I think it is pretty cool, I am looking forward to wearing it and I am sure people will enjoy it as well, wear it and love it.”
