Sylvain Distin says Everton have proved that money can't buy true team spirit over the last four weeks.
February was tipped to be the Blues’ toughest month of the season with Premier League battles with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
But David Moyes' side managed the double over the two top flight giants and Distin says it shows how strong the players are as a team.
"That is something money can't buy," he told evertonTV in an exclusive interview available to view on Friday 11 March. "The atmosphere and the chemistry between players is something you need, as well as big players.
"You need to feel good together as you spend a lot of time together, sometimes more time than we spend with our families! You have to work hard for each other and you need a good team spirit to do that."
Distin paired up with Phil Jagielka to start against Hull City for the first time this season and the Frenchman was impressed with his teammate's ability.
"He is a player with a lot of experience and we have trained well together. The Hull game went well for us and we had a good understanding.
"There was one or two times where the communication wasn't quite there because I am not used to the words he was saying," laughed Distin. "The first ball bounced between us and Jags said something like ‘take it home’ and I wasn't sure what he meant!
"But we sorted it out quickly and he is a great player to line up next to."
Distin puts the stability of Everton's defence also down to the spirit in the camp as a whole.
"Now we have our injured players back it means the defence is not only the back four. You have to defend as a team.
"We are doing that now," Distin continued. "We are defending properly and it makes it easier for the back four."
